Hello from on top of the Rockies!
As many of you already know, the deadline for the up coming 2010 limited license draw is April 6th. We still have about 20 days until the deadline and wanted to give everyone plenty of time to put in for either a preference point or an actual license.
For all of you that are looking to just get into the system and start applying for points, you can go to my web-site
www.estesparkoutfitters.com and at the bottom of the home page there is a logo for the Colorado Division of Wildlife. You can simply click on that and it will take you to the official D.O.W. site and from there click on "apply/buying a license" The site will have step by step instructions on how to apply.
What you need to know is that your 1st choice hunt code is the only one that matters!! So when applying for a preference point.....the code needed for an elk point is E-P-999-99-P .... then check off for a refund.....they will keep around $25 to $30 of your $354 and send the rest back....if you're applying for an actual license....you will need to send in the entire $544 and put for your 1st choice hunt code ...the proper code for the season you will be hunting....please call me with any questions before you hit the send button... so as to not make any mistakes....they will kick you out of the draw if you do... so go slow and be careful...I am here and happy to help!!
When your receive your point ...which is usually early to mid-June....please give me a call and we can get your spots locked up for a future hunt. For those of you that are applying for a 2010 hunt, please call me and let me know your status after the draw results are out.
As it stands now, it is taking 2 points to draw an archery tag.....3 points for 1st rifle, 2-3 points for 2nd rifle.....1-2 points for 3rd & 4th....and muzzleloader will take 5 points...the Wildlife Commission sets each years license allocations in early May.... so... at that time we will know how many licenses will be available for each season.
Hope this helps and look forward to hearing from you!
I always have my phone near by so don't hesitate to call with any questions (970) 215-7064 Thanks again Tim
